May 13, 2011

You spent all your day in front of the PC at your office cubicle, checking your e-mails and looking at spreadsheets. When you got home, you could not help but watch your favorite show and of course, the evening news. Eventually, you feel the toll on your peepers and their plea for relief. That’s eyestrain for you. In that case, you might want to try natural pain remedies for eyestrain.

And you are definitely not alone with this condition. Anyone who uses the PC for a long time, drives a car for extended periods, or watches television for hours or live in a city full of smog is prone to eyestrain. You are especially more vulnerable if you are above 40 years old. But don’t worry – you can get relief from that eyestrain. Just follow these methods:

  • eyestrainSliced cucumber. You must be seeing this all the time in beauty tips and spas. It’s so obvious that you might not want to try it. But indeed, placing sliced cucumber over your closed eyes will give you that relaxing relief from eyestrain.
  • Eye massage. This is a simple and foolproof method for relief from your eyestrain. Just bring your palms together and rub them against each other until they heat up. Close your eyes, then softly press your right palm over your right eye and the left palm over the left eye. Stay in this position for 12 counts. To increase the effectiveness of this method or simply to prime you for it, you might want to take deep, relaxed breaths first with your eyes closed. And, you might even start feeling relief from your eyestrain already!
  • Homeopathy. This is especially an effective method for relief if your eyestrain is coupled with headache. Take a 6C dose of Ruta graveolens for two days, three times a day. This is available in health food stores.
  • Foods with Vitamin C. For relief in the long term, start eating more foods rich in antioxidants, especially vitamin C. Vitamin C helps keep your eyes healthy generally and protects you from eyestrain since lack in Vitamin C makes your eyes more sensitive. So load up on those citrus fruits, tomatoes, bell peppers, spinach, cabbage, broccoli and other vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables.
So, take your pick from any of the natural pain remedies above and get relief from that eyestrain!
